Don't Compete With Nature
Nature Needs No Improvement
The magic ingredient to our creative process is not trying to improve on what already works perfectly. There are so many aspects that we can and do control, it's good to know what doesn't need our attention. "If it works, don't fix it." is an excellent saying (and bumper sticker) to bear in mind whenever we are on location.
I went to Hazard Rock and just pointed my camera at the crashing waves. Nature puts on an amazing show just doing what it does. When I went out to Hazard Rock, I had every intention of standing in front of what you are watching and talking about it. That seemed disrespectful. So, I just let the ocean do the talking.
The same thing can be said about you and your business. You don't need to work on the parts of your business that already work. If you can identify the parts of your business that are running smoothly, the best thing you can do is get out of the way and don't interfere. Let the waves do the work, you just make sure the camera is set up right.
